My Hero Is…My Mom- Mckenna Osmond

My Hero IsMy Mom

A hero is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself                - Joseph Campbell

My mom is a hero because she would risk her life for the family. She is strong and trustworthy. If you don’t believe in heroes, you have never met my mom. She is absolutely amazing and I love her. She is able to help keep a roof over my head and keep food on the table. But she is also fun and great to be around. Some of her hobbies are shopping, and trust me, she’s good at it. My mom fits the criteria of a hero and this blog is going to tell you why.
Those are not the only awesome things about her though. My mom is a breast cancer survivor. She is went through radiation and now she is fully recovered. She is back doing all of the things that she enjoys and she is stronger than ever. Our whole family would support her. Only a handful of people in the world survive cancer and I am so thankful that my mom was one of them.
She said to me that she felt the safest at home with the family and the first person that she would go to for support, she would go to my dad. She is confident and proud. She said to me that that best part about having cancer is beating it, to have such a harsh thing that is harming you, and to beat it, feels amazing.
I learned a lot from my mom and how she felt through the process of curing cancer. I learned that it is not about having cancer, but beating it. She wants to give as much support to those who have cancer as possible. Once again I am very grateful to have her here, because of her strength and confidence.
