We shall defend our island, whatever the cost may be,
we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall
fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender.”
Sir Winston Churchill always thought against treating
with Hitler. But little did he know he
would eventually become Prime Minister of England during World War 2. In the late 1930’s, Neville Chamberlain (The
Prime Minister at that time) tried to make peace with Hitler by establishing
treaties with him, which he did. But
Hitler ignored them and kept building up his army and attacking countries
around England. During the time of
Neville Chamberlain wanting peace, Winston Churchill kept arguing and saying
that they must go to war with Hitler and that he will ignore the treaties. After Winston Churchill’s theory proved
right, Neville Chamberlain resigned as Prime Minister and Winston Churchill
took his place.
Winston Churchill encouraged the people and carefully
guided his Army eventually to victory.
Over and over again, he displayed warfare smarts that kept England alive
and well during the war. If it weren’t
for Sir Winston’s guidance and leadership, Hitler may have very well taken over
the world.

I learn from Winston Churchill that no matter how hard
a challenge, you can always step up to it and defeat it. I can try to be like him by showing bravery
in the face of danger, and knowing what to do and having the smarts if
something terrible happens.
Also, no matter what your appearance may be, you can
achieve great things.
